Expanding Breckenridge Arts District

Most people think the best reason to own Breckenridge real estate is our world-class Colorado ski resort.  But Breckenridge CO homes are also popular when the snow melts.  The cultural offerings and summer recreation available for residents and visitors of the small Victorian Town of Breckenridge are more good reasons to buy Summit County property in Breckenridge, or in the surrounding communities of Keystone, Silverthorne, Copper Mountain, Dillon, and Frisco.  All are connected by bike trails and the free shuttle.

From festivals, to theater to symphony and concerts, art shows and galleries, there is a substantial and growing interest in the arts in Breckenridge.  That is why the Town and the State Historical Fun have partnered to construct three new studio spaces to expand the Breckenridge Arts District.  This exciting project includes rehabilitating the Fuqua Livery Stable, a historic barn, on the corner of East Washington Avenue.

The exterior façade is being restored.  In addition, an innovative storefront system on the interior will allow artists and guests to experience the historic interior.  A main studio will be used to offer space for some of the existing venues in the overcrowded Robert Whyte House, the site of a variety of classes for children, teens, and adults.  Workshop-preparation space, restrooms, and storage are in the central studio and one more studio is available for rent to a local artist.

Another thriving section of the Arts District is located behind the Barney Ford House Museum.  The Tin Shop is a historic structure that has been restored by the Saddle Rock Society along with the Town.  Visitors are welcome to freely stop by to watch guest artists or to participate in one of the workshops presented by guest artists who come from around the United States to share their creativity with our community.

Many residents and visitors, from retirees to students, are getting involved in the Arts District.  With ten miles of beautiful snow-capped peaks, national forest in every direction, and a quaint small-town ambience, the area begs to be painted.  It truly inspires the expression of better part of each of us.
