Located in unincorporated Summit County, Colorado, the Keystone community is vibrant all year round. River Run Village and Lakeside Village welcome 1,000 residents and tens of thousands of guests for recreational activities such as skiing, riding, ice skating, mountain biking, and paddle boating. Then they offer fabulous spa experiences, over-the-top restaurants, exceptional lodging, and Keystone CO real estate in the magnificent Colorado Rocky Mountains.
Some families vacation yearly at Keystone Resort until finally landing some Keystone property of their own. The affordable price point for square footage of Keystone CO real estate, which is running an average competitive $250 to $350, allows families to own a second home in Keystone and/or investment property. Keystone’s eight neighborhoods offer something for everyone. Some look to East Keystone’s newer luxurious condominiums and townhomes; others to Keystone Ranch Golf Course and multi-level ski-in/ski-out chalets in the woods. The majority choose condos right in the villages where all of the resort amenities are within blocks.
The marvelous Snake River flows through seven miles of Keystone property. In addition, the scenic Keystone Lake at Keystone Village is a great place to ice skate, play hockey, kayak, canoe and paddleboat. Not too far away, sailboats expand in the breezes on Lake Dillon.
Conveniently located as the first resort on Interstate 70, the area is a weekend retreat for many Front Range citizens. Only a 90-minute drive from the Denver International Airport and a short 20 minutes from other resorts in the area, properties here are very accessible. People can also get around the resort using the free shuttle service, the twenty ski lifts, and paved bake paths and footpaths.
Originally constructed in the 1970s by Ralston Purina Company, the resort is the dream child of Max and Edna Dercum who sold it to Vail Resorts. The consistently good snow, nighttime skiing and boarding options, and the energetic community life are a few reasons why the resort regularly ranks in the top three in the nation. Lively festivals and concerts, and wonderful events add pizzazz to the extensive resort conference facilities and to the hometown atmosphere. Covering Dercum Mountain, North Peak, and The Outback, the ski resort extends over 2,870 acres of terrain and rises 3,100 feet in elevation to 12,408 feet. There are broad cruising runs for intermediates and beginners and deep-powder challenges in the wooded glades of the Outback. A day-and-night terrain park and a Nordic skiing center are increasingly popular also.
The enterprising business community includes small proprietors, the service sector, the arts and entertainment, hospitality, and other creative endeavors. A variety of boutique shops as well as services and a few chain stores bring all of the necessities to the mountains. Families are happy to find that education and extracurricular activities are important to the Summit County School District. Seniors also find extensive services, fun activities, volunteer, and plug right into the active lifestyle. Responsible citizens care for the pristine environment in many ways such as clearing trails, recycling, and using renewable energy.
