Copper Mountain Resort Real Estate

By Jonna Beardsley

Set midst the White River National Forest, Copper Mountain is the largest Rocky Mountain ski resort in popular Summit County, Colorado.   Copper Mountain real estate offers top ski and snowboard terrain, snow tubing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling in the winter as well as mountain biking, golfing, hiking, biking and rafting in the summer.

Located only 75 miles from the Denver communities along Colorado’s Front Range, Copper Mountain Resort features a wide variety of ski terrain, a ski school, and prime ski-in/ski-out real estate at Copper Mountain along with convenient shopping, dining, and family activities.  Local residents of Summit County homes also seek out Copper Mountain amenities, its shorter lines, and lesser-known but fascinating ski terrain that peaks at 12,313 feet.
Copper Mountain is only five minutes from Frisco CO real estate, 12 minutes from Silverthorne homes and outlet stores, and 15-20 minutes from Breckenridge and Keystone—all accessible on the complimentary Summit County shuttle.

Three villages welcome Copper Mountain real estate’s residents and visitors for lodging, dining, and entertainment.  Recently, Intrawest, the owner of the resort, improved all three:  The Village at Copper (or Center Village), the East Village, and Union Creek on the west side.  As a result, choices for Copper Mountain CO real estate are improving.  New hotels, condominiums, restaurants, shops, bars, and lifts shed greater spotlights on the resort.

The ski resort features naturally separated terrain.  For example, the ski area features beginner slopes on the western side of the mountain, intermediate slopes in the center, and expert terrain on the eastern side.   Advanced skiers gravitate to the double black diamond slopes high up on the Copper and Union Peaks.  In fact, 21 percent of the runs are for beginners, 25 percent for intermediates, 36 percent for advanced skiers, and 18 percent for expert skiers.

The base at 9,712 feet provides access to 125 trails that explore 2,433 acres.  Guests use a lift system composed of 22 lifts including five high-speed chairs, ten chairs, six surface lifts, and a tubing lift.  A combination of green and blue runs, a Superpipe, and Catalyst, the premier terrain park called snow lovers out into the great beyond where the expert bowls are comparable to those at the more famous resorts.

The “Over the Hill Gang” began right here in 1976 and continues to be very active.  The club is a celebration of maturity and a testimony to skiing and riding as a lifetime sport.

Not only winter activities are popular here.  The resort is undergoing a transformation into a year-round resort destination.  This is a wonderful place to chill out with a good book, to stalk trout in the gold-medal waters.

It is also a perfect place to master the links at Copper Creek Golf Course—where dazzling views of the Ten Mile Range may distract even the most concentrated golfer. The front nine winds through natural alpine terrain, towering pines, lakes and streams, then rolling emerald greens, forests and mining remains.
